RC Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed has openly addressed his sluggish start to the Ligue 1 season, having played 11 games.

Despite being named the best midfielder in the French top-flight last season, Lens fans have been disappointed with his recent performance.

In an exclusive interview, the 23-year-old revealed that his slow start was a result of an extended vacation where he completely cut off training for a month.

Reflecting on this choice, the Ghanaian international acknowledged it as a mistake, stating, “It’s the first and last time! I need to run all the time, to work, to expend energy.”

“The recovery was very hard, I understood from the first training session. I told the coach the truth: I didn’t do anything, it’s my fault, I’m paying for it but I’m going to work hard, as usual.

“It’s a good lesson. It killed my start to the season a bit, I couldn’t play a full match. I knew that the Champions League was coming and that I had to quickly find my level to be able to help the team”.
