Dr. Kwame Kyei vows to restore damaged stadium seats after vandalism by alleged Kotoko fans

Former board chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has promised to repair the damaged stadium seats following a chaotic clash between Asante Kotoko SC fans and Nations FC during a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex during the Betpawa Premier League’s week six fixture on Sunday.

Kotoko SC supporters found it difficult to contain their emotions when a controversial injury-time penalty was awarded to the home side, leveling the scores.

The irate fans damaged seats of the venue in expression of their anger at officials.

Dr. Kwame Kyei, a dedicated fan of Asante Kotoko SC, emphasized his commitment to the team and the stadium:

“Everything at the stadium is for Asante Kotoko, because is my team and everything that belongs to me is for Asantehene, so we damaged our own property,” Dr Kwame Kyei told Kumasi based Light FM, monitored by kickoffghana.com

“As for the broken seats, I will repair it but the only thing I am pleading is that it shouldn’t happen again, we are all one and we shouldn’t try ourselves to be disgrace with emotions.”

The Ghana Football Association is yet to react to the disturbances with other chaotic events happening in Dorma and Tamale.
