In an international friendly clash on October 18 at Geodis Park in Nashville, the US Men’s National Team secured a convincing 4-0 victory over the Black Stars.

All four goals were netted within a blistering 39-minute period in the first half.

Despite the lopsided scoreline, US head coach Gregg Berhalter commended Ghana for their fighting spirit. In his post-game interview, Berhalter pointed out that despite being down by four goals at halftime, the Black Stars chose not to relent.

He emphasized that they continued to battle till the final whistle, highlighting this as a crucial quality displayed by the team

“Being down four nothing at half time, Ghana had a choice; they could have mailed in the second half and could have lost eight nothing but they didn’t do that. They kept fighting till the last minute of the game. They didn’t play a great half but they didn’t give up and that’s an important quality that a team shows.”

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton
Being on the receiving end of a heavy loss, Ghana coach Chris Hughton took responsibility for the defeat and called on his team to do better ahead of the 2023 AFCON.

On the Ghanaian side, head coach Chris Hughton shouldered the responsibility for the defeat. He called on his team to rise above the disappointment, urging them to raise their performance levels in preparation for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
