Former Chelsea full-back, Ryan Bertrand has indicated that Ghana’s decision to play the USA and Mexico was very good regardless of the results.
According to him, facing the national teams of the two countries provided different tests for the Black Stars.
This he believes will help the Ghana national team as part of the preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Speaking to 3Sports in an interview, Ryan Bertrand indicated that he is sure Ghana will be ready to compete before the start of the AFCON.
“Yeah, I think first of all football, international or domestic tournament football, anything can happen. So there’s some stage you are not in the best form and end up doing well. Sometimes you can be in great form and end up underachieving. I think the last two tests in USA and Mexico were good tests because they’re different, you know, different styles of football and different opposition.
“So I think they’re in great hands with Chris Hughton. I’m pretty sure by the time the tournament comes, they’ll be ready,” Ryan Bertrand said.
The Black Stars of Ghana are among the 24 countries that will compete at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Following a series of unimpressive performances, many Ghanaians are not confident the national team will do well at the tournament.
