Jenifer Mendelewitsch, the agent of Mohammed Kudus, has disclosed the reasons behind her client’s decision not to join Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Despite strong interest from the London club, Kudus opted to sign with fellow Premier League side West Ham United after agreeing on personal terms.
Mendelewitsch explained that Chelsea’s inability to meet Ajax’s asking price for Kudus was a significant factor in the deal falling through.
She also mentioned that Chelsea was more focused on the transfer of Moises Caicedo, which consumed much of their attention.
She stated, “The truth is that Chelsea were completely focused on the transfer of Caicedo, which took all their energy. Kudus had agreed terms with Chelsea, but they kept on submitting low bids.”
Initially, Chelsea had offered 30 million Euros, falling short of Ajax’s valuation. Despite the transfer not materializing, Kudus has made a promising start at West Ham United, scoring three goals in various competitions.
