Ghana coach Chris Hughton is well aware of the weight of the moment as the Black Stars host Central Africa Republic in the final Group E match of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Set to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, both teams are vying for qualification to the continental showpiece, scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
While the Wild Beasts from CAR must secure a victory against Ghana to qualify, the four-time AFCON champions, merely require a single point to secure their spot.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Chris Hughton assured Ghanaians that the team is ready to do what it takes to beat Central African Republic.
“We are conscious of what this game means not only for the nation but myself, the players, and everybody involved. We know what this game means. We will do everything we can to get the result that we want to get,” the manager told the press.
The Ghana coach added, “Preparations have been good. We are playing at home. We have a good record here and we want to continue that.”
