GFA is committed to grass root development – President Simeon-Okraku

President Simeon-Okraku has affirmed the Associations commitment to develop grass root football across the country.

The GFA in collaboration with FIFA has already set in motion the His comments is on the heels of the launch of the FIFA Football for Schools project in Ghana.

The program which was in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth and Sports saw fifty (50) trained Physical Education (PE)  teachers and 100 school kids undergo rigorous training in grassroots football.

“You having passed this exams marks the beginning of transferring same to other people and to our kids’’ he said.

‘’It is important you truly consume gestures you been taught. It’s important that you carry on with the passion of transferring what you have been taught today to other people and many others who are not here with us today’’.

‘’If this program is to be successful, it hinges on your passion, commitment and active participation in this project until we otherwise advise. The fact that you are here today speaks volumes of your commitment to be part of a big story that has started unfolding’’.

‘’We have already announced the implementation of our special boarding school football academy project the first pilot will definitely start from the Upper East region specifically at the Bolgatanga Senior High School. Hon. Minister of Sport, just to take our minds back, through the support of FIFA and most importantly through the FIFA Forward program, we have invested in a first class FIFA standard football pitch in the Upper East region and this football pitch is housed within the vicinity of the Bolgatanga Senior High School so the partnership is very clear’’.

‘’The FA working with the Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education would set up the first ever Senior High School Football Academy Project at the Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East region. That will be the very first one but the vision is to repeat same in all the regions in Ghana so the first three will be in the Upper East, the Ashanti Region and the Greater Accra Region and then the rest will follow’’.

‘’That confirms our commitment to developing football right from the grassroots level through to the schools until they become professionals. Football can be combined with main line education and what we are going through here today is a signal of our collective determination and responsibility to push the sport into the school system and to ensure that we develop our talents right from the beginning until they become world super stars’’ .

‘’It also confirms our undiluted commitment to invest in grass root football across the country. I am here to pledge my support to this special project been fully funded by FIFA with the blessings and support from our Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sports” President Simeon-Okraku added.
