Ghanaian trio Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman and Kelvin Abrefa have been relegated with Reading from the English Football League (EFL) Championship.
This follows Huddersfield’s victory over Premier League promoters Sheffield United 1-0 on Thursday evening at the John Smith’s Stadium.
With only a game to end the season, the result means Huddersfield increase their points tally to 50, maintaining their status in the division while Reading remain stacked in the relegation zone with 44 points, four behind 21st placed Cardiff, confirming their demotion to League One.
Having been play-off contenders at the turn of the year, Reading have endured a torrid run, winning only two games in 2023.
The club’s wounds were compounded in April when the EFL docked them six points for breaching the terms of a business plan to manage their spending.
