GFA Veep visits injured Black Stars midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh

Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mark Addo paid a visit to recuperating international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh at his base in Germany a couple of days ago.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is currently ruled out for the remainder of the 2022/23 season after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear in training at his German club SC Freiburg back in February.

GFA announced Sunday: “Vice President, Mark Addo, has visited midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh in Germany to wish him well and solidarize with him as he continues to remain on the sidelines due to injury.”

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has not enjoyed a smooth first season since joining Freiburg from FC St. Pauli last summer. He had to deal with injury and form issues during the first half of the season – enjoying just 970 minutes of action from 19 appearances for the Breisgauer across all competitions.

The injury also rules Kyereh out of the Black Stars’ assignments in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Angola this month and later in June against Madagascar and Central African Republic.

Kyereh made his Ghana debut in September 2021 and has gone on to enjoy 18 caps, making him a key member of the Black Stars squad.

Now led by Chris Hughton, the Black Stars will resume their campaign in Group E of the Afcon 2023 qualifiers against Angola in Kumasi on Thursday, March 23. They travel to Luanda for the second match four days later.
