Mohammed Kudus paid tribute to Christian Atsu after scoring in Ajax‘s 4-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie.
The Black Stars midfielder scored a stunning free kick in the 84th minute before running to the sideline to reveal a white shirt underneath his jersey with “RIP Atsu” written on it.
Atsu was confirmed dead by his agent in the early hours of Saturday morning following a devastating earthquake in Turkey two weeks ago.
The 31 year old is among over 40,000 victims across southern Turkey and northern Syria following the two initial earthquakes and the aftershocks.
The former Chelsea and Newcastle star was capped 65 for Black Stars between 2012 and 2019, including the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named player of the tournament.
