Former Black Stars Coach James Akwesi Appiah has paid tribute to the late Christian Atsu following his tragic passing away.
Atsu was found dead on Saturday morning after 12 days under rubble following the devastating earthquake that hit the region.
His remains is expected to arrive in Ghana on Sunday for his burial to take place.
“I scouted him from his days at Portugal and he was good and as I brought him we all saw his service with the national team,” James Akwesi Appiah told Kessben Sports.
“The donations he does in his life is even more than what some of us we do because he go to the extent that he brings prisoners out which is not easy,” he said.
“What I can say now is to extend my condolences to the entire family of Atsu. We will make sure we go and support the family in his burial service.”
The 31-year-old is among over 10,000 people who lost their lives from the natural disaster.
Atsu played for various European clubs, such as Chelsea, FC Porto, Newcastle United, Everton, and Bournemouth.
