Kelvin Abrefa nets in Reading FC’s victory against Watford

Kelvin Abrefa scored his first professional goal in Reading FC’s 2-0 win against Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Reading enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in the opening stages without creating anything clear-cut. Reading did have the ball in the back of the net before the break but the goal was flagged offside.

Reading did, however, take the lead in the additional time before the break. Kelvin Abrefa raced down the right and swept in a cross that Okoye couldn’t handle. The Watford goalkeeper got a touch on the stretch, but it went under his crossbar and into the back of the net off the inside of the far post.

A minute later, Long surged free into yards of space and closed in on Okoye, putting the match beyond doubt. He took his time before slipping the ball past the Watford goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner to make it 2-0.

Baba Rahman started the game and was substituted in the 86th minute. and Nelson Abbey was an unused substitute. Attacker Michael Adu-Poku played for Watford.
