In-form Aduana FC midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong has been forced to withdraw from the Black Galaxies camp due to an injury.
In view of this, the 26-year-old is no longer in contention for a place in Ghana’s final squad for next month’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.
Adom Frimpong received his first-ever call-up to the national team, following a strong start with Aduana in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The central midfielder caught the attention of coach Annor Walker’s technical team after starting all 8 matches and scoring twice for the league leaders.
But a groin injury sustained during his stay at the Galaxies’ camp prevents the former Asante Kotoko player from being available for the showpiece scheduled for January 13 to February 4, 2023.
Adom Frimpong has been released to report to his club.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak’s Caleb Amankwah – who can play as a central defender and also a holding midfielder – has received a late call-up to the team.
The Black Galaxies are expected to head out to Egypt this week for the final part of their preparations for CHAN 2022.
