Winger Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay with Bayer 04 Leverkusen till the end of the 2022/23 season.
Chelsea FC had the option of bringing the loanee back early this winter under a clause. But, as Bayer 04 Leverkusen manager Simon Rolfes stated on Friday, they eventually let the option lapse.
This ends speculation about a January return to Stamford Bridge to help Chelsea finish the season strongly.
“We had assumed Callum would stay but now we also have the assurance that he will stay with us. We’re happy about that, because he’s a very important player for us,” said Simon Rolfes, according to Kicker.
The attacking player’s loan contract, which saw him play 15 competitive games and score two goals for Leverkusen in the first half of the season, will end next summer. Hudson-Odoi is under contract with the Blues until 2024.
Callum Hudson-Odoi scored his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen in a 2-2 away draw at Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on 26 October.
