Defender Mohammed Salisu retuns to Southampton after Ghana’s exit from the World Cup

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has returned to first-team training with Premier League side Southampton after Ghana’s early exit from the ongoing World Cup.

Southampton is preparing for the second part of the league, they are currently 19th on the league table with 12 points after 15 games.

Mohammed Salisu was a member of the Black Stars squad that failed to go past the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 23-year-old started all three games for Ghana in Group H and scored against South Korea in the second group game.

The Black Stars of Ghana won one game against South Korea and lost two games against Portugal and Uruguay.

Salisu scored his first professional goal for Southampton against Sheffield United on 21 September 2021 in the EFL Cup which ended 2–2 at full time.

Mohammed Salisu has made 14 appearances and assisted one goal in the Premier League this season. Salisu made his debut for Ghana on 23 September 2022, as a second-half substitute in a 3-0 friendly defeat against Brazil.
