Gent midfielder, Elisha Owusu has opened up on his “surprising” first call-up as a Black Stars player.
The 25-year-old was named as part of the squad for the double-header against Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs back in March under coach Otto Addo.
He played 44 minutes in the second leg against the Super Eagles as the Black Stars won on away goal rule having played out a 1-1 draw in Abuja after a goalless match in Kumasi.
In an interview with Star Connect, the Belgium-based player revealed he did not anticipate the invitation.
“I was a little bit surprised because it was a really important game. I was in the squad before and to be called for those two games I was like ‘wow so big.”
“I was happy and so proud. My family was very proud.”
Elisha was one of of the six players who did not play a single minute for Ghana as the country crashed out from the group stages of the World Cup.
