Andre Ayew has addressed the elephant in the room following Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in their final Group game of the 2022 World Cup on Friday.
The Black Stars skipper missed a crucial penalty that would have given his side an early lead at the Al-Janoub Stadium.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta‘s quick-fire double later in the half proved to be difference as Ghana finished bottom of Group H and were eliminated from the tournament.
“We had the opportunity to get to the next stage…I missed the penalty..it’s difficult to take..we did not get it right..I am very optimistic for the future
“I am sad but we will try and make it better” Ayew told reporters in the mixed zone after the match.
