Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has defended his quiet displays at the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Arsenal star has been criticized by some Ghanaians following his performances in the opening two games against Portugal and South Korea.

But the 29 year old insists he is doing exactly as instructed by the technical team and is helping the team the best way he can.

“Most people will surely expect more from me, but we are playing as a team. I listen to the coach and look to do what he has asked me to do correctly, so that he will be happy. In the end, you know you can do something better, but you need to stick to what the team wants and not the individual. I’m doing my best” Partey said in a press conference ahead of Ghana’s final Group game against Uruguay on Friday.

The two nations will lock horns at the Al-Janoub Stadium in the hope of sealing a spot in the knockout stages of the World Cup.

A victory would guarantee a spot in the next round for Ghana, while a draw would be enough if Portugal avoid defeat against South Korea.
