Ghana coach Otto Addo waxes lyrical about ‘great’ Ati Zigi

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has praised goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi for his performances at the ongoing World Cup.

The 26-year-old, who has not been a starter for the national team, has manned the post for Ghana at the tournament in Qatar.

Despite conceding five goals in two matches – Portugal and South Korea, Ati Zigi has impressed many of his shot-stopping ability including saving five shots against the Asians.

Addo believes the St. Gallen man has given a good account of himself at the World Cup.

“I think it’s been a great tournament up to this point for him (Ati Zigi), he really did well especially in the last game, he had some great saves.” Coach Otto Addo told media in Doha.

“We knew before that the goalkeepers we have are almost all on the same level so it was very, very sad when we got the news that Joseph Wollacott and Richard Ofori were not able to come due to injuries,” he said

Ghana has three points in group H after been defeated by Portugal and winning against South Korea Republic in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars will host Uruguay at exactly 15:00 GMT at the Janoub Stadium.
