Russia plans to leave UEFA and join Asian confederation

What if Russia left UEFA to be able to play? Last February, FIFA and UEFA decided that all Russian teams, national or club, were suspended after Moscow launched what it called “a special military operation” in Ukraine. In addition to the clubs involved in the European Cups, Russia could not participate in the League of Nations or the last qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup.

Faced with this situation, theAFP informs that the Russian Federation (RFS) would consider changing confederation to join the Asian Confederation (AFC), according to Russian media, relaying the words of Alexander Dyukov, the president of the body. “A few months ago I said thinking about Asia was premature, but now it’s an opportunity we should consider”he said, in a text relayed by the RIA agency.
