Former defender Dan Quaye says Ghana will find it difficult to pick up victory against Portugal in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Black Stars returned to their fourth global tournament after missing out in Russia 2018 and will begin their campaign against Portugal on Thursday.
Despite the optimism surrounding the team following the victory over Switzerland in a friendly match, Dan Quaye remains cautious.
“It will be difficult for Ghana to beat Portugal, even at the time we had matured and experienced players we couldn’t beat them. If I were to be a betting company, I would have given Ghana (1,000 odds) and Portugal (500) because we cannot beat them.”
“Look at the squad depth of Portugal. I know football is full of uncertainties but this time I believe the best team will win.”
Ghana will hope for a revenge against Portugal, having lost to the Portuguese side at the World Cup in Brazil eight years ago.
