Ghana’s group opponent, Uruguay are sweating on the fitness of forward Edinson Cavani after sustaining an injury.
The ankle injury means Cavani will miss Valencia’s game against Real Betis on Thursday.
With only two weeks until Uruguay’s World Cup opener against South Korea, the striker will be recovering from the ailment.
“Edi in the last five or six days has done everything to be able to play but the ankle is very swollen and in pain,” Valencia coach Gennaro Gattuso told a news conference on Wednesday.
“He has shown great availability but he can’t train.”
The 35-year-old forward has four goals in seven La Liga games for Valencia this season, but the manager said he has been receiving continual therapy ever since he was substituted against Barcelona at the end of October.
Ghana face Uruguay on December 2 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
