Reports of a $70,000 appearance fee has been making the rounds but Nyantekyi will only tell KickOffGhana.com whatever the players are earning pales into insignificance compared to what some of the African countries are paying.
“I know those who are paying $90,000 and $110,000 in appearance fees. I won’t sit here and disclose what we have agreed with the players but it is what the players wanted and what we thought we could afford within the confines of what we have,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
“You have to understand that given that there is so much money players would ask for as much as possible. We have to remind them of our other obligations and now we are happy to have put that to rest.”
“With that out of the way, Nyatekyi expects the Black Stars to at least reach the second round. The least we can do is it to match the performance of Germany 2006 but even then we are convinced we have a team capable of going as far as the semi finals which thankfully is something the players believe too.”
