Issues of bonuses have traditionally been a thorny one with players often keen to make as much as they can from major tournaments, while officials often try to beat down the demands.
Ghana’s first female Youth and Sports Minister, Akua Sena Dansua, has a fair idea how tough the bonus issue could be after it triggered the beginning of the end of one of his predecessors Mubarak Mutaka.
But Dansua has told KickOffGhana.com her outfit will have the issue under control.
“In fact, the ministry and the GFA are already in talks about how to handle this. We want the players to appreciate the fact that yes we need to motivate them to give off their best but at the same time the generality of Ghanaians have demands that we need to meet. We are hoping that the players will understand,” she said.
Winning bonuses for members of the Black Stars can rise to as much as $10 000 per game, but the players are also certain to demand for appearance.
