The Udinese midfielder is seen as many as the key man in the stars and will wear the number 10 shirt which has been worn by some of the most famous names in Ghana football.
But while Asamoah says he is happy to carry the hopes of the nation, he is keen to point out that the Black Stars is by no means a one man team.
“The number 10 is just a number,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “It has been worn some of the greatest names in Ghana football but it is about what I can do on the field, what I bring to bear on the team and i hope i can do that positively for the team.”
“It is not a burden for me that many people expect me to do well. I am a football player and anytime i get on the field I will do my best. But this game is about teamwork and with my colleagues i think we can do really well.”
Asamoah will be a crucial member of the team in the absence of Sulley Muntari especially on the left side of the attack and Milovan Rajevac has already said the Udinese man will be central to his plans in Angola.
