Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice-president George Afriyie has described Kurt Okraku’s conduct and presentation before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports as “scandalous”.
GFA president Okraku appeared before the committee on Wednesday, November 4, to answer questions about the state of Ghanaian football, the performances of the country’s national teams and wider concerns surrounding the administration of the sport.

Afriyie, however, criticised the way Okraku conducted himself during the session, saying his posture and responses were inappropriate for such an important engagement.
“His posturing and answering. Today, I feel scandalised to be associated with football,” Afriyie told Sporty FM.
He also took issue with the manner in which Okraku sat and the language he used while responding to questions.
“His posturing, the way he sat there, and the way he used certain words were bad,” Afriyie said.
“I think he needs help, and the people around him cannot tell him the truth; some of us will.”
Afriyie further urged those close to Okraku to offer him support during what he described as the GFA president’s final year in office.
He said Ghana football should begin preparing for a change in leadership next year, while again expressing dissatisfaction with Okraku’s performance before the parliamentary committee.
“Ghana football will need to go to a new face coming next year,” he added.
“It’s about time those around Kurt needed to support him in his last year in office. Because his posturing yesterday was not the best.”
