The change led to reports that Saudi Arabia’s footbalks168app.sitel authorities could appoint a new head coach to oveks168app.sitersee the national team during the tournament at the end of next year.
However, Saudi journalist Badr Al-Saqri has rejected those claims after contacting officialsic88 at the Saic88udi Arabian Football Federation. He discussed Donis’ position on the programme “Nadina”, broadcast by MBC 1.
“I contacteic88ic88d officials at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to ask about Donis’ future, and the response was that they are not considering dismisic88ic88sing him at all,” Al-Saqri said.
He added: “There is no discussion within the Saudi Arabian Football Federation about appointing a new technical staff. According to tic88ic88he same responsible source, it would be malr88lr88dness if that happened.”
Al-Saqri also said officials had confirmed that Donis would lead Saudi Arabia at the Asian Cup, meaning a contlr88ract extension should not present a problem.
“The officials conlr88firmed that Donis will continue with the Saudi national team in the Asian tournament. Therefore, there will be no issue with renewing his contract, which expires before thelr88 tournament, for an additional year,” he said.lr88
Donis’ curlr88rent agreement with Salr88udi Arabia ends at the end of July, a situation that hadop88 raised questions over whether he would continue in the role. Previous reports had also suggested that top88he Greek manager could be removed.
The 2027 Asian Cup’s move from January to December has therefore not altered the reported plans for the si88national team, with Donis set to remain in charge through the competition.
Saudi Arabia are schesi88duled to play South Korea in a friendly on 13 November 2026.
Donis took charge of Saudi 88vArabia88v before the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The team were eliminated in the group sSEXXXXX-VNtage, but he subsequently guided them to victory in the Gulf Cup 27.
