Jude Bellingham marked his 50th goal for Real Madrid with a composed finish as Jose Mourinho’s side followed their El Clasico victory by beating Racing Santander 3-0.
Real were awarded a penalty in the 11th minute after Matteo Prati brought down Kylian Mbappe. The France forward took responsibility and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot.
Bellingham added a second 10 minutes later with an excellent solo effort. Collecting the ball near halfway, the 23-year-old drove forward before lifting a finish over the advancing goalkeeper and into an unguarded net.
Yan Diomande, Real Madrid’s record signing, extended the visitors’ advantage before the interval. He met the ball after a corner had only been partially cleared and struck a volley into the net.
Mbappe came close to adding another in the 59th minute, curling an effort from the edge of the penalty area against the post.
Santander were later awarded a penalty, but the decision was overturned following a video assistant referee review. Aurelien Tchouameni’s handball was judged to have been accidental, with the ball having deflected off the midfielder’s boot before striking his hand.
Bellingham’s first goal of the match was his 50th in all competitions for Real Madrid since joining the Spanish club as a 19-year-old from Borussia Dortmund for £88.5m in 2023.
The former Birmingham City player has now made 154 appearances for Real and has contributed 37 assists. He thought he had scored again on Sunday when he calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner late on, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The result was Real’s fifth consecutive victory in all competitions. They remain three points behind La Liga leaders and rivals Barcelona, whom they defeated 2-1 in their previous match.
Mourinho’s team have lost only two games this season, with their most recent defeat coming against rivals Atletico Madrid on September 20.
England full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was handed a rare start by Mourinho. The former Liverpool defender nearly created an early goal when his cut-back found Arda Guler, although the Turkey international curled his effort narrowly wide.
Alexander-Arnold, 28, has started only five of Real Madrid’s 14 matches this season. Denzel Dumfries and midfielder Federico Valverde have often been preferred at right-back.
