Enoch Worlanyo Wallace, the Head of Sports at Asempa FM and Adom FM, has been named among the nominees for the 2027 Diamond Excellence Awards.
Both stations are part of the Multimedia Group. A promotional flyer for the awards features Wallace’s image alongside the word “Anticipate”, prompting interest ahead of the ceremony.
Wallace began his broadcasting career at a community radio station in Koforidua in Ghana’s Eastern Region. Since then, he has established himself through years of committed coverage of local sport, particularly football played outside the national spotlight.
His early work was carried out with limited resources, but he remained focused on ensuring grassroots football received consistent attention. He covered district Colts competitions before progressing to Division Two and Division One matches.
Through those assignments, Wallace used his broadcasting platform to highlight players, clubs and competitions that often attract less attention. While many broadcasters were drawn towards opportunities in the capital, he continued to maintain a strong connection with his roots.
That commitment has included promoting emerging talent and community-based clubs, giving them greater visibility through his reports and commentary.
Wallace’s support for grassroots football has also influenced the way he approaches live commentary. He has made a deliberate effort to pronounce local names correctly and to build a connection between listeners and the players and teams representing their communities.
His inclusion on the promotional material for the 2027 Diamond Excellence Awards represents a possible milestone in a broadcasting career shaped by consistency, commitment and service to local sport.
The ceremony is expected to be held in February 2027. However, further details about the event have not yet been confirmed, including the category in which Wallace may be recognised.
For a broadcaster who has spent years bringing attention to grassroots football, the nomination would acknowledge his contribution to sports broadcasting in Ghana.
