The Milan derby between Milan and Inter on Saturday could become only the third fixture in Serie A history to reach 500 goals.
The teams meet in the 10th round of the 31 October 2026 Serie A programme, with their previous relevant meetings producing 496 goals.
Inter have beaten Milan 70 times in Serie A, more than any other opponent, and have scored 260 goals against them – also their highest total against a single team in the competition.
Milan have found the net 236 times against Inter. The Nerazzurri have conceded more goals only against Roma (237) and Juventus (270).
If four goals are scored, the derby will join Inter v Roma, which has produced 544 goals, and Inter v Fiorentina, with 502, as the only Serie A fixtures to reach that mark.
Form and scoring records
Milan have collected 18 points from their opening nine league matches, the same total they had at this stage last season. However, in five of the previous six Serie A campaigns they had earned at least 21 points after 10 matches. The only exception was 2024-2025, when they had 17.
The Rossoneri have lost four of their last eight home league games, alongside three wins and one draw. Across their previous 29 home matches, they had suffered the same number of defeats but recorded 15 wins and 10 draws.
Milan have also conceded six goals in their last two home matches, one more than the total they allowed in their five home games before that.
Inter have scored in each of their last 19 Serie A matches, the longest current scoring run in the top flight. Their last failure to score came against Milan on 8 March 2026.
The Nerazzurri have scored at least twice in 16 away league matches since the start of last season. Only Bayern Munich have done so more often among teams in Europe’s top five leagues, with 18 such games, while Barcelona also have 16.
Inter and Milan are the only Serie A sides this season to have two players with at least four goals. Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have reached that mark for Inter, while Adrien Rabiot and Alfadjo Cisse have done so for Milan.
Hakan Calhanoglu made 135 Serie A appearances for Milan between 2017 and 2021, scoring 22 goals and providing 31 assists. He has not contributed to a goal in his last four league derbies against his former club, after producing four goal contributions in his first five – two penalties and two assists.
Cisse scored twice in Milan’s previous match to reach four Serie A goals at 20 years and six days. A goal against Inter at 20 years and nine days would make him the seventh-youngest Milan player to reach five, and the third-youngest in the three-points-for-a-win era behind Alexander Pato and Stephan El Shaarawy.
Francesco Pio Esposito, aged 21 years and 125 days, could become the youngest Italian to score for Inter in a Serie A derby during that era. Among all Inter players, only Obafemi Martins and Ronaldo have scored younger.
Milan have won three of their last four league meetings with Inter, with one draw. They have also won the last two, but have not recorded three successive victories since Carlo Ancelotti’s side won four in a row between 2002 and 2004.
