Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side will not alter their attacking approach when they visit Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Yellow and Mauve will face the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Stadium in a Matchday 9 fixture, with Tanko confident his players can secure another positive result against the Kumasi-based club.
Tanko expects an intense contest but believes Medeama’s results in last season’s meetings with Kotoko will give his players added confidence.
“I think it’s always very good and exciting to play against them, especially in Kumasi. And yeah, as I said, last year was good for us, and we won a point there and then beat them 4-0 at home,” he said.
Medeama drew in Kumasi before completing a 4-0 victory in the return fixture, and Tanko believes those results will be in the minds of the hosts when the teams meet again.
“So definitely, it’s at the back of their minds. So they are preparing very well to meet us,” he added.
Despite the demands of an away match, Tanko said Medeama would continue to play in the same manner they do at home, rather than adopt a more cautious strategy.
“And, like I always say, we don’t change our style of play, whether at home or away. So definitely, we are going there to fight for something,” he said.
Medeama will be aiming to extend their strong record against Kotoko and strengthen their position in the Ghana Premier League standings.
The hosts, meanwhile, will be seeking a return to winning form after being held to a 1-1 draw by AshantiGold in their previous match.
Asante Kotoko are eighth in the league table with 12 points and will hope home advantage can help them close the gap on the teams above them.
The match at the Baba Yara Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT on Sunday.
