Speaking to Sporty FM, she acknowledged that Okraku is her brother but said he played no part in the recruitment process. She also stressed that their professional careers had developed in separate areas, with Okraku working in football administration while she pursued management.
“The GFA president [Kurt Okraku] is my brother… but our paths never crossed [professionally]. He’s always been into football, and I’m into management. He never played any role in me getting this job,” she said.
Mawudeku said she secured the role through her application and qualifications, rather than through any personal connection. She added that the recruitment team did not know about her relationship with Okraku when assessing her application.
According to Mawudeku, her official documents do not carry the Okraku surname, which meant the connection was not apparent during the selection process.
“Nobody even knew I was related to him when I applied for the job. I don’t even use the surname Okraku. The name on my certificates is Winnifred Mawudeku,” she added.
