Harry Kane has become the first Englishman in 25 years to win the Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year Award.
The Bayern Munich striker was recognised after an outstanding 2025-2026 season, finishing ahead of Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele in the voting.
Kane scored 61 goals and provided seven assists in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich as the club won the German Bundesliga, German Super Cup and German Cup.
His form also continued at international level during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Kane scored six goals in seven matches as England claimed the bronze medal, their best finish in the competition since winning it in 1966.
The award marks the first time in 25 years that an English player has been named the Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year.
After receiving the trophy, Kane dedicated the achievement to his family, particularly his wife, Katie Goodland.
Spain and Barcelona midfielder Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Player of the Year Award for the third time.
Lamine Yamal was named Young Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.
