FC Samartex 1996 general manager Edmund Ackah says he would resign immediately if the club were involved in match-fixing or any other illegal activity.
The experienced football administrator made the commitment during an interview with Asempa FM, stressing his support for integrity and transparency within Ghanaian football.
Ackah said he remained confident in the leadership and day-to-day operation of the Samreboi-based club, but insisted he would not remain associated with wrongdoing of any kind.
Since taking up his position, Ackah has helped oversee one of the most successful periods in FC Samartex 1996’s history. The club won its first Ghana Premier League title during the 2023/24 season, completing a remarkable rise under his administration.
However, Ackah also criticised the continued absence of the club’s home fixtures from live television coverage.
He said Samartex had been told that its location, and the distance involved in travelling to Samreboi, were among the reasons its matches were not being selected for broadcast. Ackah described that explanation as unfair.
He also rejected claims that the Nsenkyire Sports Arena was not suitable for live television production, maintaining that the stadium met the required security standards.
According to Ackah, Ghana Premier League clubs should receive equal treatment regardless of where they are based. He argued that broadcasting matches was important to the growth of the competition, helping clubs attract sponsors while allowing supporters around the country to watch their teams.
Samartex will now turn their attention to their next Ghana Premier League fixture, when they host Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Matchday Nine.
The defending champions will be seeking a response after dropping points away to Berekum Chelsea. They will aim to use home advantage to return to winning ways.
