Anthony Baffoe says his wife, veteran Ghanaian actress Kalsoume Sinare, has been the foundation of his life throughout his football career and subsequent work in administration.
The former Black Stars defender described Sinare as his “pillar of strength”, closest friend and backbone, saying a strong relationship at home had been essential to his success.
Speaking to sports journalist Michael Oti Adjei, Baffoe said a partner should provide support while also being prepared to challenge their spouse when necessary.
“It’s important to have a good home. To have a good wife, a strong wife beside you. Somebody you can communicate with on permanent basis, who also tells you, hey, you’re wrong there,” he said.
Baffoe met Sinare in 1992 and the couple married in 1994. They have three children together and celebrated 30 years of marriage in December 2024.
He has regularly spoken about the importance of his family. In a 2018 interview with The Nation, Baffoe called Sinare “my pillar, my backbone, my best friend”, while also praising her character and generosity.
“I like women with character. My wife is a woman with character. If not, I wouldn’t be married more than thirty years,” he said.
Although Baffoe has not attributed specific achievements in his career directly to Sinare, his comments underline the personal support he considers important behind his professional life.
He built a distinguished playing career across Germany, France, Asia and South America before moving into football administration. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as Deputy General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Baffoe also founded the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, an organisation focused on promoting the welfare of professional players.
Sinare has established her own high-profile career in Ghana’s entertainment industry. A former model, she represented Ghana at the 1990 Miss Model of the World pageant before becoming a prominent actress in Ghanaian cinema.
In 2025, she was appointed Ghana’s ambassador to Spain.
Across Baffoe’s time as a player, his involvement in football leadership and Sinare’s work in film and public service, their relationship has remained a central part of his personal journey.
