King Faisal FC owner and bankroller Alhaji Karim Grusah has called for Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku to resign, saying his administration has failed to make meaningful progress in Ghanaian football.
Grusah told Graphic Sports that he backed those demanding a change at the top of the association, pointing to what he described as a lack of development in the Ghana Premier League, juvenile football and the women’s game.

“I support those calling for his resignation because in the last eight years of his administration, he has done nothing to improve Ghana football,” he said.
He also questioned what Okraku’s leadership had achieved on the international stage, arguing that Ghana had not won a major international trophy during his time as GFA president.
Grusah said the country’s domestic competition had also fallen short of expectations and challenged the idea that Ghana currently had a properly developed league.
“We cannot say we have a league now and every international trophy we won came long before he became the FA president. So, what is his achievement?” he queried.
The football administrator said a change in leadership could give Ghana football the chance to follow a different path.
He believes the GFA has several people capable of succeeding Okraku if he leaves the presidency, and cited the rise of former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi as an example.
Grusah noted that Nyantakyi’s emergence had shown how new leadership could develop within the association. He also said Okraku’s own rise to the presidency had not been widely expected before he succeeded Nyantakyi.
