The Accra Sports Stadium is currently the only ground approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the match. However, the NSA is seeking a review and approval from CAF to use Essipong Stadium in the Sekondi-Takoradi area as an alternative venue.
“For the floodlight, I am not too sure because the kind of work that it is required, I am not too sure we can do it in two weeks,” Sarpong told CitiSports.
Ghana are due to face Somalia on 11 November, with the return leg scheduled for four days later.
Sarpong said the NSA was considering staging the first match at Essipong Stadium, describing it as Somalia’s home fixture.
“We were trying to see if we could play one of them, especially the home match for Somalia at the Essipong Sports Stadium. It will be their home game. So it will really not affect us, so that at least Accra Sports Stadium will also have time to breathe,” he added.
The potential move follows Essipong Stadium’s return to competitive football on 13 October, when Ghana’s Black Queens hosted Mauritius in an Olympic qualifier.
That match was the first competitive fixture at the stadium in seven years. The Black Queens marked the occasion by scoring seven goals against Mauritius.
