The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) says the completion of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) election process is being held up by the delayed release of operational funding.
In a press release dated October 20, 2026, the committee said the National Sports Authority (NSA) had informed it in a letter dated September 29 that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation would provide the funding required for its work and the elections.

The GBIMC submitted a formal request for the money on October 8, 2026. It said the funding was needed to complete outstanding assignments, conclude the electoral process, hold the elections and oversee a proper handover to the elected GBA administration.
However, the committee said the funds had not yet been released. It has therefore written to the Minister of Sports and Recreation and the Acting Director-General of the NSA to request further engagement on the matter.
Despite the financial delay, the GBIMC reported progress in several areas of the election process. Candidate vetting has been completed, while stakeholder validation is continuing.
The committee is also considering petitions relating to delegate eligibility and representation as it works towards finalising the electoral arrangements.
The GBIMC reiterated its commitment to holding elections that are credible, transparent and inclusive. It also appealed to stakeholders to support its efforts to complete the mandate entrusted to it.
