Ghana winger Abdul Latif Wunzalgu says his best performance of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship is still to come as the Black Starlets prepare to face Ivory Coast in Tuesday’s semi-final.
The promising playmaker made the declaration at the pre-match press conference, with Ghana aiming to reach the final and secure qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“Tomorrow’s game will be my finest,” Abdul Latif said, underlining his determination to play a decisive role in the important fixture.
The 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship has already provided the winger with a notable moment. He was named Player of the Match after helping Ghana beat Togo 1-0 in their opening Group A match.
That performance established Abdul Latif as one of the key contributors to Ghana’s campaign, and he will now look to produce another influential display against the Ivorians.
The semi-final will be played at the 4th August Stadium in Ouagadougou, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
Ghana enter the last-four tie unbeaten after finishing top of Group A with seven points from three matches. Victory against Ivory Coast would send the Black Starlets into the final and guarantee their place at the 2027 U17 AFCON.
Abdul Latif’s confidence will be tested in a match carrying significance beyond a place in the competition’s final. Ghana must overcome Ivory Coast to keep their title ambitions alive and confirm their qualification for the continental tournament in Morocco.
The winger’s promise to deliver his finest display of the championship adds further focus to his role as the Black Starlets seek to maintain their unbeaten run and progress from the semi-final.
