Swedru All Blacks continued their strong home form with a 2-0 win over Karela United in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 7 meeting at Swedru Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The result gave the Black Magicians successive league victories, following their dramatic late win against Asante Kotoko last weekend. Eric Wiafe Darkwah and Faisal Charwetey were the scorers.
Swedru All Blacks took control early and went ahead in the ninth minute. The hosts were awarded a penalty, allowing Wiafe Darkwah to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and calmly put his side in front.
That early advantage helped the Swedru-based team settle into the match. They kept possession for long periods and controlled the pace, while Karela United again found it difficult to make an impact away from home.
The visitors faced sustained pressure after the interval and were beaten for a second time in the 59th minute.
Wiafe Darkwah created the opening with an impressive individual move, carrying the ball past three Karela defenders before finding Charwetey with a well-timed pass. Charwetey completed the move with a confident finish to extend the lead to 2-0.
The second goal left Karela United with a difficult task, and Swedru All Blacks managed the closing stages without significant difficulty to claim three more points.
The win preserves the hosts’ impressive unbeaten record at home and provides further momentum after their notable victory over Asante Kotoko.
Karela United, known as the Pride and Passion outfit, remain without an away point this campaign. The defeat adds to their difficult run on the road and leaves them needing a response in their next fixture.
Swedru All Blacks’ latest success also moves them further up the Ghana Premier League table, while Karela United will attempt to recover after another disappointing away performance.
