Dreams FC rescued a crucial point with a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Port City at Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park on Sunday.
The visitors had to settle for a share of the points after Kelvin Ahiable struck late to cancel out Samuel Aryee Baadu’s second-half opener. The result provides Dreams FC with a confidence lift in their fight for survival, although they remain bottom of the Ghana Premier League table.
Both sides had opportunities during an even first half, but neither team was able to convert its chances before the break.
Dreams FC were also forced to make an early substitution when Rahman Osman suffered an injury. Ransford Sarkodie came on in his place as coach Winfred Dormon adjusted his team.
Port City appeared to have taken the lead in the 20th minute, but the effort was ruled out for offside and the match remained goalless at half-time.
The home team began the second half with greater attacking purpose and needed only two minutes to break the deadlock. Right-back Samuel Aryee Baadu created the decisive moment, striking powerfully from the edge of the penalty area to put Port City in front.
Port City then focused on protecting their narrow advantage and looked set to claim all three points as the game moved into its closing stages.
Dreams FC continued to press, however, and their persistence was rewarded in stoppage time when Ahiable found the net to bring the visitors level.
The late goal will be a major disappointment for Port City, who had been within moments of securing victory but instead had to settle for a point.
Port City will now prepare for an away fixture against Karela United, while Dreams FC return home to face Vision FC.
