Hearts of Oak moved up to second in the Ghana Premier League after a late 1-0 victory over Vision FC, while Berekum Chelsea claimed their first away win of the season with a 2-0 success against Heart of Lions.
The Phobians needed an 86th-minute goal from Kwesi Asmah to settle a closely fought contest at the Nii Adjei Kraku Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday.
Asmah reacted quickest after Vision FC failed to clear the ball inside their penalty area, sending a left-footed finish into the net to complete back-to-back league victories for Hearts of Oak.
Their latest success follows a narrow win against Port City and leaves them on 14 points, close to the top of the table. Vision FC, meanwhile, remain 15th with six points after another disappointing result.
Hearts of Oak will attempt to extend their winning run when they host Basake Holy Stars in their next league match. Vision FC will travel to play Dreams FC.
Chelsea make away breakthrough
Berekum Chelsea produced a clinical display to beat Heart of Lions 2-0 at the Kpando Stadium, securing their first victory away from home this season.
Dramani Awuah opened the scoring in the 39th minute before Paul Attah Agyei added a second in the 69th minute.
Heart of Lions enjoyed spells of possession but could not convert them into goals, while Chelsea made better use of their opportunities to hand the hosts a second successive defeat.
The result leaves Heart of Lions 13th in the standings on eight points. They will look to end their winless run when they travel to face Bibiani Gold Stars.
Berekum Chelsea have climbed to seventh with 10 points and will return home to host FC Samartex in their next league fixture.
The other seven matches in Matchday Seven are scheduled to be played on Sunday at venues across the country.
