Nicolo Tresoldi scored three times as Club Brugge beat Inter Milan 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller, handing the Italian side a fourth successive Champions League defeat for the first time in their history.
The opening goal did not arrive until the 30-minute mark, when referee Rohit Saggi awarded Club Brugge a penalty. Tresoldi took responsibility and sent his effort into the top-right corner to put the hosts ahead.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez restored parity just before half-time, scoring his first Champions League goal since November 2025.
Club Brugge regained the lead soon after the interval following a major error from Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez. He came rushing from his goal but failed to make contact with the ball, leaving Tresoldi with an open net for his second goal of the night.
Tresoldi completed his hat-trick 11 minutes later. After Josep Martinez had made a save, the forward reacted quickest to the rebound and drove the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.
Inter refused to concede defeat and Lautaro Martinez scored again with fewer than 10 minutes remaining. The captain capitalised on a loose ball inside the penalty area to reduce the deficit and give his side hope of rescuing a point.
That prospect appeared to disappear three minutes before full-time, when Romeo Vermant restored Club Brugge’s two-goal advantage.
However, the scoring continued into the 93rd minute. Substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny moved in from the left and curled an impressive finish into the far corner, making it 4-3 and setting up a tense conclusion.
