Victory Club Warriors will face Eleven Wonders in an all-Bono meeting in the preliminary round of the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup.
The tie was confirmed after Tuesday’s draw at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headquarters, with clubs from the Division One and Division Two leagues entering the opening stage of the competition.
All 18 Ghana Premier League sides have been exempted from the preliminary round and will join the tournament at the round of 64.
Victory Club Warriors have invested heavily ahead of the new season and will be looking to make an early statement against Eleven Wonders, who are aiming to regain their place in the top flight.
Two former Premier League clubs will also meet in a Northern Region derby, as Real Tamale United take on Yapei United. The match will give both sides the chance to claim regional bragging rights.
Another notable northern tie sees Tamale City host Wa Power SC. Both clubs performed well in the Division One League last season, with Tamale City narrowly missing promotion to the Premier League and Wa Power establishing themselves as a competitive side.
Okwawu United will welcome Kotoku Royals in the Eastern Region, bringing together two clubs that have previously featured in Ghana’s top division.
King Faisal, another former Premier League side, have been drawn against Pro Sports Academy. Although King Faisal will be expected to advance, the unpredictability of cup football could make the contest a demanding one.
Ebony FC face Nations FC, while Great Olympics will begin their FA Cup campaign against MSK Zilina FC, an academy team recognised for developing young players.
Great Olympics were relegated from the Premier League last season and will hope their top-flight experience helps them negotiate the tie.
Accra Lions will meet John Paintsil FC in another fixture involving a former top-flight club. Accra Lions will seek to draw on their reputation for youth development as they attempt to start their cup campaign positively.
In the Western Region, Sefwi All Stars have been drawn at home to Skyy FC in a regional derby. Skyy FC played in the Premier League two seasons ago, but face a difficult assignment against hosts who will be seeking to make home advantage decisive.
Last season’s finalists, Golden Kick SC, will open their campaign against Attram De Visser. Golden Kick SC will be hoping to go one step further after their run to the final, although Attram De Visser’s academy pedigree makes the fixture a closely watched contest.
The preliminary round brings together former Premier League clubs, ambitious lower-division teams and established youth academies. The winners will continue their pursuit of the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup trophy.
