Ghana’s Black Queens will aim to secure their place in the third round of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers when they face Mauritius in the second leg of their second-round tie on Tuesday.
The Black Queens hold a commanding 3-0 advantage from last Thursday’s first leg at the Cote d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius.
A victory, or a draw, at the Essipong Stadium would send Ghana through to the next round as they continue their pursuit of a historic first qualification for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
Ghana have won their past three matches in all competitions and produced an impressive performance in Mauritius. Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi and Benedicte Simon scored in the first leg to give the Black Queens a significant advantage before the return fixture.
Mauritius must now overturn a three-goal deficit away from home to keep their Olympic qualifying campaign alive. After a difficult first-leg performance, the visitors will be hoping to produce an upset and at least finish the tie strongly.
Head Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s squad completed its official Matchday-1 training session at the Essipong Stadium on Monday evening.
Bjorkegren is expected to retain the main group of players who started the victory in Mauritius, although he could make changes and rotate the squad to provide opportunities for other members of the team.
The tie will be decided over two matches, with the winner advancing to the third round of the Olympic qualifiers. Ghana are seeking to remain on course for their first appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
The match is scheduled to begin at 15:00hrs on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi.
Supporters in the Western Region are expected to attend in large numbers and fill the stands as they back the Black Queens in their attempt to complete the job.
Fans around the world can watch the match on Max TV and the Ghana Football Association YouTube page.
