Ghanaian and French forward Jordan Ayew, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to APOEL Nicosia in the Cyprus League.
Ayew, 34, became a free agent after leaving Leicester on 1 July, following one season with the club. Leicester paid £5.9m to sign him from Crystal Palace in August 2024, but the move ended after Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League in 2024-25.
The proposed switch would give APOEL the chance to add a vastly experienced forward with 305 Premier League appearances and 42 goals to his name. Ayew has also played 159 times in Ligue 1, scoring 31 goals, and spent periods of his career in the Championship.
He made four appearances at the 2026 World Cup, starting every match and playing 84% of the available minutes, although he did not score or provide an assist.
Ayew began his senior career at Marseille, where he won the French league title, three French League Cups and two French Super Cups. He later played for Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Leicester.
The forward’s most recent club spell ended with Leicester’s departure from the Premier League, and the reported interest from APOEL comes while he remains unattached. No transfer fee has been given for the proposed move.
