Manchester City have agreed a deal worth €40m with Palmeiras for the Brazilian attacking prospect Allan, who has arrived in Manchester ahead of his medical and formal transfer this weekend.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that Allan travelled to the city in the past few hours as he prepares to undergo medical checks before signing for the English champions. The final paperwork is expected to be completed by the end of the weekend, although the length of his proposed contract has not yet been disclosed.
The Athletic reports that Manchester City will pay €37.5m as the guaranteed part of the agreement, with a further €2.5m available through add-ons and performance-related bonuses.
City had identified Allan as a target while looking to strengthen their attack. Palmeiras had maintained that the player was not for sale, and sources close to the Brazilian club indicated that his contract contained a €100m release clause.
The agreement therefore represents a significant reduction on that figure, with Manchester City securing the player for less than half of the reported buyout value.
Allan’s move comes after City agreed to sell Brazilian winger Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur. The London club are due to pay £75m up front for Savinho, with a further £10m potentially payable in add-ons.
The incoming deal from Palmeiras is part of a notable change in the make-up of Manchester City’s attack. Allan is now in England to complete the final stages of his move, but the transfer will not be official until the medical has been completed and the contract signed.
No details have been released about the duration of Allan’s agreement with Manchester City. The €40m package remains subject to the completion of those formalities.
