Gabriel Martinelli has given the go-ahead to join Al Hilal from Arsenal, with the clubs now checking the contracts for a package worth more than €65m.
The Brazil international is understood to be nearing a move to the Saudi Pro League club during the current summer transfer window. Discussions between Al Hilal and Arsenal have progressed to the final stages, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano wrote on X: “Understand Gabriel Martinelli has given green light to Al Hilal move as contracts are being checked.
“Al Hilal and Arsenal finalising package over €65m as now all moving to the last stages of negotiations.
“Martinelli’s medical will be booked soon.”
The next significant step in the proposed transfer will be the scheduling of Martinelli’s medical examination with Al Hilal. That appointment is expected to be arranged shortly, although the move remains subject to the completion of the contractual process.
Martinelli’s agreement to the transfer represents further progress in negotiations that have taken him closer to leaving Arsenal. The clubs are continuing to finalise the details of an arrangement valued at more than €65m, with the remaining work focused on completing the paperwork and bringing the discussions to a conclusion.
The 24-year-old made 53 appearances for Arsenal last season across all competitions. He scored 11 goals and provided seven assists during the campaign.
His latest season total underlines the attacking contribution he made for Arsenal before the proposed switch to Al Hilal. However, the focus is now on completing the final contractual checks and arranging the medical that would allow the transfer to move towards completion.
Al Hilal are therefore close to securing Martinelli, with the player’s approval already given and the clubs working through the last stages of their negotiations.
