Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler says the club could make further signings as they continue rebuilding their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Porcupine Warriors have undergone significant changes following an underwhelming 2025/26 campaign, with several players leaving and a number of new arrivals joining the club. The recruitment drive has also included players based outside Ghana.
Tinkler believes Kotoko have already brought in most of the players required to strengthen the squad, but the South African coach has suggested that the club could still add to its ranks before the new season begins.
“We have now completed the signings that we feel we need to strengthen the squad,” Tinkler said.
The manager said supporters should expect a substantially different team when Kotoko return to competitive action, with departures making space for a new-look playing group.
“What you should expect is obviously there is going to be a number of changes in terms of the squad.
“We’ve moved a number of players out that we just felt… So [there are] a lot of new faces, a lot of foreign-based players that come with a lot of experience as well, which I think is all very important.”
Although Tinkler indicated that Kotoko had completed the main part of their transfer business, he fuelled speculation that more players could be unveiled.
“Well, there are one or two surprises still coming,” he added.
The comments will raise expectations among Asante Kotoko supporters, who will now wait to discover the identity of the players referred to by their head coach.
The club’s reshaped squad will face an early examination when Kotoko play traditional rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup.
That fixture will provide an initial test of how quickly Tinkler’s new players can adapt to one another and to his methods. The coach will then prepare his team for the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Kotoko will begin their league season away from home against newly promoted Debibi United.
The scale of the changes means Tinkler must integrate a large number of recruits while also ensuring that the players who remain at the club adjust to the new balance of the squad. The coach will be expected to establish his preferred tactical approach quickly as the Porcupine Warriors seek a better campaign than the one that preceded the overhaul.
The club will hope the recruitment programme, including the arrival of experienced foreign-based players, can improve performances and help them mount a stronger challenge for honours in the upcoming season.
