The 2026 Elite U-17 Girls Colts Championship will get under way at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram from 30 July to 4 August 2026, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
Defending champions Central Region will start their bid to retain the trophy in the opening fixture against Greater Accra Region at the GFA Technical Centre.
Western Region have been paired with Upper East Region in another of the early ties, while the GFA Elite Academy side will take on Northern Region.
Upper West Region and Eastern Region will meet on the Betpawa pitch, one of the venues being used within the Prampram complex.
Pathway for future Black Maidens
The GFA says the Elite U-17 Girls Colts Championship is a key part of its long-term strategy to identify, nurture and develop the next generation of female players from every part of Ghana.
By bringing regional teams and the GFA Elite Academy together in a competitive national tournament, the association aims to widen the talent pool for future youth national teams and create a clearer pathway into professional women’s football.
The week-long competition will feature some of the most highly rated girls’ colts players in the country, with scouts and technical staff expected to use the event to monitor emerging prospects.
In a brief note confirming the details of the tournament, the GFA underlined that the Championship underpins its broader commitment to the growth of women’s football nationwide.
